Player without Nation : Issue of Sharad Veswakar

‘I love scoring goals for England and playing for England. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t retire - I love playing for my country,’ said David Beckham once, despite knowing he would not feature in the future plan of English football team. Arguably, David Beckham is one of the most celebrated names, if you consider European football post 1990s.

Sports psychologists tell you: Pride of playing for the country does make sportsmen run that extra mile, push the barriers a bit further, and makes them feel responsible. Because, in the back of their head, they’re thinking about trying to uplift masses that back them.

But can we imagine a situation where a player plays without a country? Impossible you’d say? Then what is the case of Sharad Vesawkar, one of the mainstays of Nepali Cricket team?

Sharad Veswakar, who has represented Nepal right from Under-15 level to national cricket team, does not have a citizenship of Nepal. Something wrong there? Yours truly says - it’s completely insane. It’s as if he doesn’t exist, except in the record books, where his century for Nepal stands.


Nepal Citizenship Act 2006 says, “Any person born at the time when his father or mother is a citizen of Nepal, shall be a citizen of Nepal by descent.” Furthermore, it adds, “A child born to a Nepali female citizen from marriage with a foreign citizen in Nepal and having permanent domicile in Nepal may be granted naturalized citizenship as prescribed, provided the child has not acquired the citizenship of a foreign country on the basis of citizenship of his father.”

Yes, Veswakar has a Nepali mother and has been residing in the country as far as he can remember. Yet the boy in his mid-twenties is not our own, at least legally. Worse, this is the status WE have given him. We take a lot of pride in collecting hundreds of thousands of rupees to send SMS to India, just to help a Nepali-speaking person become an Indian Idol (It should be noted that yours truly has no malice against Prashant Tamang or his singing). Yet we act indifferent, when somebody takes pride in playing for us and treat him with disdain.

“President is the only person we’ve not spoken to, on this issue. From the rest we’ve already received assurances,” this is what Nepali captain Paras Khadka had to tell this scribe during a conversation some time ago. Just over two years ago, a delegation of cricketers had met Madhav Kumar Nepal, then Prime Minister, to return with a bagful of promises. Two prime ministers later, the issue is just there, while several thousand more - a number of them non-Nepalis - have become ‘proud’ citizens of this country.

Over the years, we’ve seen so many cricketers, who showed a lot of promise at early age, taking to a foreign land, to have a secure future. But this man hasn’t budged. Whether he could not go out or did not wish to - is not the question. The question is: Can’t somebody stand up and say - you’ve done us proud and deserve to be a citizen of this country? Not that giving him citizenship would hurt national coffers.

He told this scribe once, “Whenever the issue is raised, I feel as if it’s a joke. I try not to think about it and focus on my cricket.” But any sane man can understand focus becomes a tad more difficult when you have more serious issues in your head.

Perhaps, it is a joke. Some cruel joke, where he is a victim of his own stardom, for he can’t go and pay a few thousand rupees - just like many do - to become a Nepali citizen. Till he musters up courage to do that, perhaps he will remain a refugee in his own country. For we have a habit of forgetting things - taking it too easy - especially if the issues are related to sports, no matter how important.

But, yours truly wishes his status would change and change for good. No matter how faint, hope remains.

Nationality fails in front of power ::

The topics seems quite analytic. This is the issue of current not the old one. The matter of talk and to take in action. So called honorable Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari sitting on the seat of Ministry of Defense has given the very controversial speech. His speech works against the integrity of Nepal. It irritates the Nationality and intimate relationship of Terai-Madhesh with Hill and Mountain.

In the face-to-face talk organized by reporters club, Nepal Sharad Singh Bhandari gave above speech (video) where is claims that 22 districts of Terai to separate out from Nepal for the formation of new country. He then illustrated this claims with lots of examples. Analyzing his deliveries none can claim that he is the nationalistic. But it is the bitter reality that this person is not only the simple citizen but the honorable defense minister who is supposed to act as the protector of nationality. His speech is the most shameful one which from any angle doesn't suits his political career in Nepali land.

The same person is the defense minister till now. Not a single step has been taken. Even the clarification hasn't been asked by the Primeminister. Though the most intellectual PM Dr. Bhattarai is in action, his strategy failed in front of the power of Madhesi Morcha to which Bhandari belongs to. The meetings of CA hasn't touched the scheldule only for this issue.

Being the member of authentic governmental body, Bhandari is supposed to protect the nationality but be failed to perform his task. He doesn't deserve to what he is granted. Strong voices asking his resignation is widely heard. In this condition, the quick reaction of PM Dr. Bhattarai will be the most determining one to build up his career.

Note : Nationality is the self-developed abstractness that is deserved to the only who respects.

As the fourth communist prime minister, Republic Nepal got Dr. Baburam Bhattarai. His election as the head of executive has brought lots of hope in the face of Nepali and Non-Nepalis as he is most hoped and liked political personality of the era. His successful Finance ministry during first government of Republic Nepal was most appreciated since he was successful on bringing economic revolution in the nation. 

Nepali Vehicle That Dr. Bhattarai Rides

The same person is now Prime minister of Nepal. The most authentic governing person of the nation. He has already provided the symptoms of better tomorrow with his acts of eliminating corruption, addressing Nepali products, activating the role in national consensus, talk with party in opposition, etc. As proclaimed few days earlier, re-grouping of Maoist Combatant will start soon. 

No need to explain a lot about the pioneer personality, who never became Second in his life. First in academic field, and now the First of executive organ. The only, he couldn't do is to spread influence in party by virtue of his introvert nature. Engineer of real life can engineer the country or not? This question has arose today. His evaluation will be done by time ahead. Upcoming time are most valued one for his political career. Lost Path ::: Nepal

Constitutional Assembly of Nepal

We are 5 yrs forward from the historical election of constitutional assembly. Two years from the election of CA, was the deadline to publish the new constitution. It implies the CA was given tenure of 2 yrs for its functioning. Though it has functioned a lot, but all the functions are out of the destination. The functions must go towards the formation of constitution and completion of peace process along with management of Maoist Combatants but progress can't be traced besides the speech and commitment of political leaders. This is the period to lure the professionals towards the politics eliminating the concept of Dirtiness in political ground. 

Since three years we are aimless and out of target. We are moving with aim that we have lost already. We are going out of our specifications. We were specified to complete the peace process and Constitution making within 2 yrs, the added 1 yrs,,,,,,..... but all the additions were gone in vain. Thus we have lost the trend of peace process and constitution development from the beginning of additional time and gained the system of New Government. So, we are now addicted to build new government regardless the tenure of a normally functioning government. 

Fruitless, commitment of National consensus repeats with the beginning of every new government, shows a bit ray of light and disappears with the formation of new Majority Government. And it is our system, our path with is totally different from the originally determined one. 

So, the path of constitution construction and peace process completion begun at the beginning of CA was left and must be adopted right now so that the upcoming time will bring positive tides in Nepalese people, their face and their livelihood.

Asking for Reason :: Nepali against Indian

This post in prior informs to all the readers that it is not for worsening the condition but to disclose the secret that is happening. No part of the post acclaims that all Nepali are against India but there are some, who are moving with cause.

The Cause :: Nepal Vs India

India, a newly emerging economic nation of the world, bordered with Nepal is providing lots of basic requirements to the People of Nepal regardless the economic way they are brought. They are helping the government too in all the possible ways which doesn't seems to be transparent. They have hosted the 12-points comprehensive peace agreement which has brought great revolution in Nepali Political scenario.  No-VISA requirement policy of India is aiding many Nepali youth for their profession abroad to meet the day to day life essentials. 

But, the what the Nepali doesn't prefer Indian is their history. Most of the Nepali fans against India are proclaiming that the lands of Nepal encroached by British, belongs to Nepal not to India. Furthermore, the frequently heard news of border encroachment from Indian to Nepal has frustrated the condition.

The news is not old and also not factual i.e. Lord Buddha was born in India. This statement can be a joke but not a good one. No Nepali enjoys this Joke because Buddha was Born in Nepal and only in Nepal. To prove the fiction and to hide the reality, Indians have attempted to build artificial Lumbini inside India near the border. This surely hampers the Tourism and tries to hide the reality. The world knows but Indian Ignores.

Consequently, the understanding between the neighbors is disturbed by many other heard and unheard facts. Thousands of Nepali supporters are bind together in social networking sites against Indian activities bothering Nepal's Sovereignty. Among those campaign is the FACEBOOK GROUP CAMPAIGN (We will get 10,000,000 before Indian get 9,999,999).** Here 50,000+ people expresses thousands of comments and likes normally against India. This scenario seen in reputed networking site can worsen the international relationship. 

So, there must be a table-talk between both nations regarding the cause i.e. the matter of History (claiming of ex-British land encroached from Nepal), Lumbini, Border encroachment, etc must go to the effective conclusion satisfying the both parties. Agreement surely comprises the loss of one and gain of other. And, in the issue of International Nationality, the innocent party must be benefited and guilty one must return back to normal condition. 

Before the condition worsen, and be a big deal in international court, both nation must bring effective conclusion in action. 

Remember ! One's act mustn't disturb another and the neighbor are those who are closer in critical  condition.

Nepal Kept the Prestige and Got the Victory :::

It is not the post except the event of 28th July, 2011. The day for Nepali sports where two international most important events were carried out, one in home country and another in Ireland. 

FOOTBALL

Home match of FIFA World Cup Selection, as a second leg against Jordan was held in Kathmandu @ Dasarath National Stadium with the Full Nepali Supporters of 16,000 +. Though the Stadium have capacity of 15,000 supporters, 1000 more Nepali entered the Stadium in that rainy climate to support their Team. 

First leg was most disappointing for Nepal, cause it lost that match by 9-0, which was most shameful result. Thus, the second leg at it's home was thought to be even worse but Nepali Players, showed their best performance and stunned the Jordan's Players upto 65 minutes with no goals from both sides. But a goal was added by both sides after the completion of 65th minutes, initially by Jordan and then by Nepal. The Match finally remained draw in second leg. Nepali kept their prestige by stopping the highly ranked Jordan from victory.

CRICKET

SCORECARD (NEP VS AFG)

Nepal played the opening match of WCC U-19, Qualification Round with Afghanistan on Ireland with some Non-Resident Nepalese -Ireland's Supporters. NRN-Ireland provided quick feedback of the match to the supporters of Nepal. Really the collaboration of NRN-Ireland and  Resident Nepalese-Nepal was awesome on Social Networking Media (FACEBOOK). That collaboration enabled to break the score and to remain updated. No page of Nepali sports was an exception of wishes, comments, post regarding that CRICKET. 

Last time on E-lite Cup, Nepal was stopped to seize the trophy by Afghanistan. So, this match was most revengeful match for Nepal to take revenge against Afghanistan for the previous defeat. Finally, the 50-over match with was not played completely by both teams was amazingly defeated by Nepal. Though Afghanistan was supposed to chase the score of 155 in a short time with few loss of wickets, it became very hard nut to crack for them even to touch the century. And it lost it's all wickets with an aggregate score of 112/10. 

FINALLY

This created a new history in Nepali Crickets in International Arena. And the world Cup is not far from Nepali Cricketers because for their excellent performance in Cricket. Not only the Cricket, but also the Footballers of Nepali must be empowered cause, they stopped the powerful opponent in draw. This will be improved with an ease if the Coach desires, Footballers desires, desire of International Stadium is fulfilled soon by Nepal Government.

Nepal will be in big pressure for winning the home match against Jordan either for victory or satisfaction. For the victory, Nepal have to perform the most outstanding performance which will be impossible at current prediction. But to save the face of Nepal, Players must do their best on adding their goals and stopping the goals to be added on Opponents account.

On the same day, Nepali U-19 Cricketers' will give their opening match performance in Ireland against Afganistan, which is supposed to be the powerful hostile among the nations participating. Nepali cricketers with appreciable Ranking in Globe and Asia are well confident for Finals but the Cricket is unpredictable game and depends upon every possible things viz. Luck, Favour and Chance. Increasing cricket craze of Nepalese are boosting up the confident level of players. The pressure and wishes are seen in thousands of numbers in social networking sites and blogs too.

New Social Networking Site by NTC (chautari.ntc.net.np)

NTC (Nepal Telecommunication) from Nepal is setting up to launch new social networking site in the internet. Along with the clashes between Social King Facebook and Search King Google, NTC is planning to lure the user from Nepal and other places too with attractive features that are available in Google+ and Facebook.

An announcement was done to launch the site names 'CHAUTARI' which is currently under construction. But according to Saroj Kumar Shakya, Deputy Manager (NTC) at IT directorate Chautari will be availablle soon to all the internet users after the completion of internal testing. The server of this will be in Nepal and all the content including its services are prepared here. During the trial period it will serve 1 million users and will extend as per the need of users. The facilities of Group Chat, Photo sharing, Status updating, etc are avialbel in CHAUTARI too. NTC mobile subscribers will be able to send free SMS through this site to any other NTC subscribers through this site. But the limitation of 10 messages per day is done to all the users. 

With this declaration, favorite quote 'NTC to compete with Facebook and Google' is frequently seen published by various websites. The public opinion regarding the inauguration of CHAUTARI holds high ambitions and target in the future. But in front of Giant Google and Social King Facebook, Nepal Telecom's CHAUTARI, in my point of view will bring no vibration. It is because, NTC has to invest huge in online advertisement, which will be more economic for it. But incase of optimum facilities, luring structure there is no doubt for CHAUTARI to overcome the trend of FACEBOOK and GOOGLE+. 

Once again, resumption of Tourism

After a month long deadlock in Nepali politics, the most people from all around were seem confused about their destination towards Nepal. Lots of loss were bore by Nepal Government in the field of Tourism industry. Thousand of tourists were bound to return back to their home country from the border. This situation was even worsening the Nepal's Name and Fame in the world.

At the eleventh hour...

It's not the only post claiming for striking the strike. Thousands of posts has been published against the strike of Nepal. Neither the protesting group nor the government is giving its attention towards the solution of the problem. 

The Most Awaited Eleventh Hour Decision:

But this post is not only claiming of the strike of strike but for something most critical issue of the time. Currently it is very hard nut to crack for the government to be directed to multi-direction. Government of Nepal is at the eleventh hour and focusing more on constitution not for making but for increasing the period of time of CA. Shameless political leaders must hide their head onwards because they neither succeeded to make NEW NEPAL defined by NEW CONSTITUTION nor they succeeded to stop illegal activities going against the descending economic status of the country.

An unknown cause is working carefully behind, that is urging the leaders of Nepal to remain idle until there is time and to be active at the eleventh hour. As a consequence we are still deprived to step a step in Peace Process. Though the words of political leaders are filled with optimistic feeling, no such symptoms have been traced out so that a citizen can be made believed about the future happenings. 

It is also not the fact that the public pressure is insufficient because lots of public and private organizations including students, journalists, embassy, etc are launching several programs in both national and international arena from long run. Thus, we failed to built the new constitution is the given time period. 

There is a solution of either organizing fresh election or increasing the time length. The result after the increment of time period if the mission is not accomplished again will be dreadful enough. So the most awaited decision is not far from the day. The 14th of Jestha (28th of May) will decide the upcoming days of Nepal. 

Until the deadline, it is the mysterious part of Nepali politics. 

Strike the Strike

The most awaited solution, is nothing than striking the strike that is ongoing process of Nepal. Though we are launching several international campaign, Strike goes on continuously whether it is positive or negative for country's future. This is the main drawbacks of Nepalese society. This blog strongly recommends all the visitors not only from Nepal but also from abroad to create international pressure to Nepal for abolishing Bandas, Dharnas and Strike at all.

These claims of the protesters are good on their own hand but the way they adopted in the situation is not matching the condition of the country in international view. 

Daily Strikes and bandas is creating depression and anti feeling against Nepalese purity. This has urged the tourists to build up negative attitude towards Nepal. The situation has bound the tourists to go away from border rather than visiting Natural Nepal. This has not only affected Nepal but has also separated tourists to be a part of  breathtaking natural panorama of Nepali culture, Nature and others. 

No Nepali citizen can perform enough forces against Strike because they are divided into several groups in the name of strike with the demand of their favour. We are at the climax period of Nepal Tourism Year -2011, it is because the mid time of this year is very near to us. In this period several anti-social and anti-touristic activities hampers the flow of tourisms in the road and nature of Nepal.

Al-Qaeda's leader Osama Bin Laden dead - Obama

The al-Qaeda leader was killed in a ground operation outside Islamabad based on US intelligence, the first lead for which emerged last August.

Bin Laden was accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.

He was top of the US "most wanted" list.

The US has put its embassies around the world on alert, warning Americans of the possibility of al-Qaeda reprisal attacks for Bin Laden's killing.

Crowds gathered outside the White House in Washington DC, chanting "USA, USA" after the news emerged.

As a successor of Visit Nepal 1998, government of Nepal has announced Nepal Tourism year -2011. On October 25, 2008 the Government of Nepal decided to organize a national campaign called the "Nepal Tourism Year 2011". The campaign is an effort to promote Nepal as a tourist destination. The government anticipates receiving at least one million tourists by the year 2011. Also, the government plans to expand Nepal's tourism industry so, it consistently receives high number of tourists. The declaration of the tourism year was made after consulting with the private sector, tourism entrepreneurs and media partners.

The Nepal Tourism Year 2011 will officially commence on February 26, 2010 in a program organized at Tundikhel in Kathmandu, Nepal. Promotion of the Nepal Tourism Year includes the geographical, cultural, biological and religious diversity of Nepal. The main highlights of the tourism year seem to be trekking, adventurous sports, mountain expeditions and wildlife safari. Hotels and other tourist facilities are improvising themselves for the tourism year. Many international airlines have also begun international flights to Tribhuwan International Airport, the only international airport in Nepal.

The first tourists Nepal received were the mid-20th century hippies like Jimmy Hendrix. Since, then, Nepal has become quite popular as a tourist destination. Most tourists, who visit Nepal, have fallen in love with the peoples' hospitable culture. Tourism-concerned industries are pressurizing the government to improve services for tourists. Out of the world's ten tallest mountains, eight, including the world's tallest Mt. Everest, lie in Nepal. Popular trekking routes have been developed around these mountains such as the Annapurna Trekking route. Also, many tourists also prefer to trek to the Everest base camp.

One new concept the Nepali tourism industry seems to be adopting for the Tourism Year of 2011 is that of 'luxury travel'. Existing hotels are turning into star hotels and new luxury hotels are popping up. Spas, resorts and other luxury services are also being embraced by Nepalese entrepreneurs in 

excitement of the tourism year.

Nepal is going through its peace process after its 10 year long civil war. The political leaders have envisioned "Nepal Tourism Year" as a part of their plan in bringing about rapid economic expansion. This mega event in the Nepalese tourism sector is an attempt to harness the tremendous possibilities of tourism in Nepal.
